We all get caught up in one way or another each day and forget to look at the big picture. I am guilty of it and I am sure you are too! It's human nature to get distracted from time to time and I believe is just part of the process.
For many people in business, the truly important things that matter get pushed to the back burner often, many times it is because they simply got distracted and didn't realize that the 'pot is still simmering' in the background. Watch out though because as you may have experienced personally, if you leave that pot unattended for too long, you are going to have a very big mess to clean up. Who wants that frustration?
I try to remind myself as much as possible to focus on the things in my business life that make the most difference and impact in what I do. Do you?
Some great ways to remind yourself are:
* To send an email to yourself with a specific note that you don't want to forget to do as you think of it.
* To mark a day and time on your calendar to 'shut out the world' so that you can regroup.
* Set-up a meeting with your teammates or co-workers once a week to check in and talk about important details in your agenda.
*Lastly, when the thought happens stop what you are doing if possible and take time to....enjoy the process! (In fact, that is exactly what I just did in creating this blog posting....now back to work!)
Life is too short and business is too important to not get as much as you can out of both!
